There are nationwide protests in France against a deeply unpopular bill to raise the pension age. Train services were disrupted and some schools shut while garbage piled up on the streets of France on Thursday as part of a ninth nationwide day of strikes. France will ban the use of the Chinese-owned video-sharing app TikTok on the work phones of civil servants to guarantee the cybersecurity of their administrations and civil.

Nationwide protests continue in France against a deeply unpopular bill to raise the pension age. Labour unions said Thursday’s day of strikes and protests would draw huge crowds against what they described as Macron’s “scorn” and “lies”. Police fired tear gas to repel violent black-clad anarchists in Paris on Thursday as hundreds of thousands of mainly peaceful protesters marched across France against them.

On Thursday, over a million people participated in approximately 300 demonstrations across the country to express their opposition to the proposed pension reforms. These changes would increase the retirement age from 62 to 64 and have been met with strong resistance. The protests led to the arrest of more than 450 individuals. According to union leaders, the number of demonstrators exceeded three million, indicating a widespread discontent with the controversial legislation. The law was passed in parliament last week without a vote, intensifying the public’s frustration and prompting them to take to the streets in large numbers.
