BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) – One local car show aimed to help the community better connect with its veterans.
The Beckley VA Car Show was held at the Beckley VA Medical Center. Several vendors were set up to provide services for attendees, like the Vet Center, Archie’s Cruisers, and the Vietnam Vets of America Chapter 860, who gave away free hot dogs.

Ruann Handy, who helped set up this event, told 59News why they held this car show at the VA.
“In past years, years and years ago, it was kind of taboo to go to the VA. You did not go unless you were a veteran, and we are working to be in the community, be seen in the community, have the community come to us, and celebrate the veterans with us,” said Handy.
This car show allowed free car entries and free entry for attendees. This event has been taking place almost every year since 2018, but they did miss a few years due to Covid.
Handy said they are certainly glad to get this event back to being a tradition.
