Lufthansa flight to Tokyo returns to Munich after about eight hours

A Lufthansa flight from Germany to the Japanese capital Tokyo had to return to Munich due to technical reasons, a spokesman for Lufthansa reported on Saturday.

The aircraft landed back at Munich Airport after about eight hours. The reason was an irregularity in the hydraulic display, the airline spokesman said.

The 292 passengers on board the Airbus A350 were subsequently rebooked onto other flights, he added.

It was a priority landing which is usually accompanied by emergency vehicles with flashing lights.

According to various flight radar tracking providers, the aircraft turned around over the Caspian Sea between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.

After a technical examination, the aircraft was back in operation on Saturday, the spokesman said, adding that it was a classic technical irregularity.
