PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — An 86-year-old man was stabbed several times in the parking lot of a Fred Meyer store as the assailant then tried to steal his car.

The Friday afternoon incident in the store’s parking lot near 8900 SE 82nd Avenue began as the elderly man tried to put his groceries into his car, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said. The attacker, wearing a brown puffy jacket, orange pants and white socks, stabbed the man who began yelling for help.
