WAYNESBORO — Police responded to a disturbance in Ridgeview Park on Friday, resulting in the arrest of a Waynesboro man on numerous sex charges.
The Waynesboro Police Department said officers were sent to the park, located in the 700 block of Magnolia Avenue, for the disturbance, where they found Michael A. Cooper, 62.
Authorities said Cooper is alleged to have been soliciting minors, “which led to confirming Cooper’s reported purpose for being at the park,” according to a press release.
He is charged with use of a communication system to solicit a minor, soliciting prostitution from a child, soliciting a child, along with two charges of use of a computer to commit sex offenses with a child, police said.
Arrested July 5, Cooper is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail in Verona.
