A man has died following a late-afternoon shooting on Tuesday in Florida City, according to police.
At about 5:30 p.m., officers arrived to the area of Northwest 14th Street & Northwest First Court after reports of a shooting, but found no victim, according to Florida City Police Sgt. David Hunsberger.
A short time later, a male victim with a gunshot wound arrived at Homestead Hospital where he was airlifted to Jackson South Trauma, said Hunsberger.
The victim, whom police have not publicly identified, died during surgery, according to police.
Miami-Dade Police Homicide Bureau is investigating along with Florida City detectives.
