Man found fatally shot in hallway of Loop residential building Thursday night, one in custody

A 32-year-old man was discovered fatally shot Thursday evening in a hallway of a residential building in the Loop neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly after 7:30 p.m., officers responded to call of a person shot at a residential building in the first block of East Monroe Street and found a man with multiple gunshot wounds lying in a hallway.

The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was listed in critical condition where he later was pronounced dead.

An preliminary investigation revealed the victim was involved in an argument where a 45-year-old pulled out a weapon and shot him, police said.

A search of the building was conducted and a man was arrested. Charges were pending.
