Nov. 21—JAMESTOWN — A 22-year-old Valley City, North Dakota, man who was arrested after allegedly firing shots into a vehicle in September was sentenced recently in Southeast District Court in Jamestown.
Mikah Alan Striefel pleaded guilty to criminal mischief, a Class C felony that was later deemed a misdemeanor, false reports to law enforcement or other security officials, a Class A misdemeanor, and discharge of a firearm in city, a Class B misdemeanor.
Judge James Shockman sentenced Striefel to 64 days in the Stutsman County Correctional Center with credit for 64 days served. Shockman placed Striefel on three years supervised probation and ordered him to pay a $400 criminal administration fee, $100 defense/facility administration fee, $1,325 in restitution and a $25 victim-witness fee.

A Class A misdemeanor is punishable by 360 days in prison and a $3,000 fine. A Class B misdemeanor is punishable by 30 days in prison and a $1,500 fine.
Striefel was accused of intentionally causing damage to another individual’s vehicle estimated to be more than $2,000 but less than $10,000, giving false information or a false report to a law enforcement officer when the information or report may interfere with an investigation or may materially mislead a law enforcement officer and discharging a firearm within a city on Sept. 11.
At about 1 a.m. Wednesday, an off-duty Jamestown police officer reported hearing gunshots in a southeast Jamestown neighborhood. Additional reports of the incident were called in shortly after the shots were fired and officers responded to the area.
Upon arrival, officers located a parked unoccupied vehicle in the 1400 block of 6th Avenue Southeast with bullet holes in it. The vehicle was identified as a late model Buick SUV and officers discovered multiple rounds of ammunition had been fired into the vehicle.
Surrounding homes to where the Buick SUV was parked were occupied at the time of the shooting. No injuries were reported during the shooting.
