A report in Turkey claims Manchester United agreed a loan deal with Galatasaray for Casemiro on Wednesday but the player rejected the prospect, vowing to fight for his place at Old Trafford.
There is scepticism around the report from outlet Turkiye Gazetesi, given the Brazilian was included in United’s Europa League squad submission earlier this week, indicating that an exit was not imminent.
The Turkish transfer window does not shut until September 13, meaning United could still sell Casemiro to a Super Lig club despite the English deadline passing last Friday. And The Times claims that Galatasaray are indeed mulling over a move for the 32-year-old.

Questions about the midfielder’s future at United have been floated following Sunday’s disastrous display during the 3-0 defeat to Liverpool, in which his mistakes led to the first two goals. Casemiro was taken off at half-time and replaced by debutant Toby Collyer.
But despite his woes, ESPN states Casemiro has no intention of leaving United unless he is told he is surplus to requirements. It outlines that the five-time Champions League winner is currently on holiday, thus adding an extra hurdle to any transfer negotiations.
Casemiro has not been selected to be part of the Brazil squad for the 2026 World qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay this international break, having not represented his country since last October.
The i outlines that United are willing to listen to offers from Turkish clubs for their 2022 signing, with a week to go until their window closes. It adds that interest in Casemiro, including that from Saudi Arabia, is expected to re-emerge in January if he does not leave United in the interim.
Casemiro’s hefty wages, reportedly at £350,000-a-week, would prove a stumbling block for most European clubs. The player still has two years left on his contract and, aside from Saudi outfits, is unlikely to get such a high salary elsewhere.
