The Israeli military said on Wednesday that it is pressing home its operations in the Gaza Strip, and successfully targeted groups of militants also in Gaza City.
On Tuesday, troops killed dozens of terrorists in the city’s northern Shejaiya district, a spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) wrote on X.
Here, Israeli forces destroyed underground tunnel routes, while troops attacked and killed several members of the Palestinian militant organization Hamas in the centre of the coastal strip, according to the post.
Operations were also continuing in the city of Rafah in the south of the Palestinian territory.
“Over the past day, troops eliminated several terrorists, located weapons and dismantled terrorist infrastructure in the area,” the IDF said.
An operation was also carried out overnight targeting members of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), who were allegedly operating from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) centre in Gaza City.
The information could not initially be independently verified.
According to Gaza’s Hamas-controlled health authority, at least 52 Palestinians were killed in four Israeli attacks in the strip in the previous 24 hours.
In total, at least 38,295 people have been killed and 88,241 injured since the start of the war last October, according to the health officials.
The figures, which do not distinguish between civilians and combatants, could also not be independently verified.
