LOS ANGELES (KTLA) – McDonald’s restaurants in Southern California are offering customers a special deal on Jan. 8 to recognize the one in eight Americans who have worked for the fast-food giant, franchisees announced on Monday.
On Wednesday, all 600 McDonald’s restaurants in Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties will offer $1.08 cheeseburgers through the McDonald’s app.
But there’s a catch: The offer is good for just one cheeseburger per customer.

“This one-day-only deal celebrates the vital role McDonald’s has played in shaping the careers of millions of Americans throughout the years,” a spokesperson for the region said. “As a key entry point into the workforce, McDonald’s has been a launching pad for talent, providing job opportunities, skill development, and unforgettable memories.”
McDonald’s was founded by brothers Maurice and Richard McDonald in San Bernardino, California, in 1940. As of 2025, there are more than 40,000 restaurants worldwide.
