MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis Police officer is dead after he was found unresponsive on a downtown street Monday, MPD said.
Officers responded at noon to a call for help at North Main Street and Adams, near City Hall and MPD’s records building.
They found Officer Charles H. Cathey unresponsive. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Preliminary information suggests Cathey’s death was a medical emergency. There are no signs of foul play, police said.
