Missing Jay Slater revelation as Tenerife rave waitress speaks out

A waitress says missing Jay Slater looked unwell at a nightclub and was given free water. The search for the 19-year-old continues after he vanished in Tenerife after staying at an Airbnb in a secluded area. It understood he earlier attended a rave at Papagayo nightclub.

Jay and friends flew to the country for the three-day New Rave Generation event, hosted at bars and clubs. Video footage shows Jay dancing as he mingles with ravers at a crowded event at the club.

In the clip, Jay’s attire appears identical to what he was last seen wearing – a grey sports top featuring a light green stripe across the shoulders, coupled with a black bag, reports the Mirror.

An employee at the nightclub has now spoken of her memories of Jay. She told The Sun: “I remembered Jay, because he was unstable on his feet. I gave him some water for free as he didn’t look well. I remembered him, my boyfriend called me in the morning and said he was missing. I recognised his picture straight away. I feel so sad, it feels very close to home as I am his age as well. I feel so much for his family.”

Jay left the club and went with two others to an Airbnb in the village of Masca, approximately 37 kilometres north. The following morning, he spoke to friends indicating he was going to walk back – a journey that would take 11 hours – before he vanished.

The NRG Raves Instagram account posted a statement expressing gratitude to those who attended the festival and those who have assisted in the search efforts. The post read: “Firstly, thank you to everyone who came to our NRG event in Tenerife last weekend. As you’ll be aware, among the attendees was 19-year-old Jay Slater who, after leaving the event, was reported missing in the north of the island on Monday. We are grateful for the many thousands who have engaged with and shared the appeals from our own and many other channels over the days since.”

“Despite the widespread coverage and hard work of the local authorities and volunteers involved in the search,” at the time of posting Jay has not yet been found. That such a devastating situation has arisen has deeply affected us all.”
