Footage has captured the moment a pilot aborted their first landing at Manchester Airport due to strong winds on Sunday morning (December 22).
The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for wind, warning of gusts of up to 50mph, over the weekend. Forecasters said ‘some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport’ were considered likely.
Videos captured by aviation enthusiast Sean Rae showed the moment a Singapore Airlines flight had to abort its first landing and perform a ‘go around’ due to the conditions at around 8.30am.

A go-around, also known as a missed approach or aborted landing, is a flight manoeuvre in which a pilot stops an aircraft from landing, pulls back up to the air and then attempts to touch down again.
The flight path for the SQ52 flight, from Singapore, showed how the aircraft circled over Greater Manchester, over Oldham and Stockport, before landing again shortly before 9am.
It is thought the strong winds and rainy conditions meant the pilot had to attempt to touch down again after aborting during the first landing.
The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for wind, covering most of the north west, including Greater Manchester, and swathes of the UK on Saturday and Sunday (December 21 and 22).

Forecasters told people to expect ‘some travel disruption’, while Network Rail also urged passengers to check their train journeys ahead of time.
In Manchester, winds reached highs of 51mph late on Saturday evening and into the early hours of Sunday morning.
“A prolonged period of strong winds will likely lead to some disruption over the weekend, especially to travel,” the update said.
“A deep area of low pressure will cross to the north of the UK on Saturday, bringing rain and potentially disruptive strong winds across large swathes of the UK. National Severe Weather Warnings for wind have been issued for both Saturday and Sunday highlighting the chance of disruption.”
