Karachi: In the 8th PSL 7 match of Pakistan Super League, Multan Sultans defeated Islamabad United by 20 runs and claimed their fourth consecutive victory, becoming the top team in PSL 7 ranking. Multan Sultan’s set the target of 218 runs in 20 overs.

Shan Masood and Mohammad Rizwan started the innings for Multan Sultans. Rizwan failed to play long innings this time and was run out on unfortunate circumstances when Multan’s score was just 30. Shan played sensible innings once again and scored 43 runs. Sohaib Maqsood scored 13 runs and he was gone back to the pavilion at the score of 65 runs. On 78 runs 3 wickets fell, this time Shan’s wicket was taken by Islamabad bowler de Lange.

Tim David and Rossouw then supported the team and batted aggressively to take the score to 183. Tim David batted aggressively and scored 71 off 27 balls with the help of 6 sixes and 6 fours. His wicket was taken by Mohammad Wasim. Riley Rossouw, meanwhile, batted aggressively and scored 67 off 35 balls with six sixes and four fours and remained on the crease till the end. Multan scored 217 for the loss of 5 wickets.

 

The start of Islamabad United batting was not good, Stirling was the main batsman and the opener was dismissed after he scored 19 runs in 22 balls. Alex Hales hit some good shots but he lost his wicket at the score of 57 runs. The third wicket of Islamabad United fell to 81 and the fourth to 82 runs, both wickets were taken by Khushdil Shah in the same over. Rehmanullah Garbaz 15 and Faheem Ashraf left the pavilion without scoring a run. After that Asif Ali came and scored 15 runs and left for the pavilion when Islamabad’s score was 138 runs. Thus, United suffered its sixth loss. At the other end, captain Shadab Khan batted aggressively and tried to strengthen the position of the team by scoring 91 runs in just 42 balls but he was out later on.

 

Khushi Shah took 4 wickets, Anwar Ali took one, Rumman Raees 1 wicket, and David Willey got 3 wickets. Tim David becomes the player of the match of Multan Sultans. Islamabad was all out on 197 runs.
