Nashville and the surrounding areas can expect a snowy end of the week as a southern winter storm brings wintry weather to much of the South and Eastern regions.
A strong Canadian high pressure will continue to build over the center of the country and will influence weather into the middle part of the week, reported the National Weather Service on Tuesday.
Wednesday night is expected to be the coldest night of the week as lows will fall into the teens and possibly into the upper single digits over the Cumberland Plateau region.

Friday is anticipated to be an “all snow event” although the timing and the amount of snow is likely to change.
Moving into Saturday, temperatures will be in the 30s with overnight lows falling into the teens and 20s, although fresh snowfall could make those lows even colder Saturday night, said the weather service.
How much snow will the Nashville area receive on Friday?
According to the weather service, Middle Tennessee has a 65-80% chance of seeing over one inch of snow accumulation on Friday and a 30-50% chance of totals over three inches.
Light snow is expected to develop early Friday morning and will peak Friday late morning into the early evening. If the current forecast holds, travel impacts such as slippery and snow-covered roads can be expected Friday into early Saturday, said the weather service.
