Need a haircut? This popular barbershop is opening in the heart of downtown Lexington

Those looking for a haircut will soon have a new spot to get a trim in the heart of Lexington.

Circa Barber Shop, which has locations in Columbia and elsewhere, is planning a new shop in downtown Lexington, just off Main and Church streets. Construction was ongoing at the shop when a reporter rode by on Tuesday morning. Chapin Commercial Construction is working on the project.

The shop will be located behind Craft Axe Throwing, across the parking lot from Cribb’s Sandwich and Sweet Shop. The popular Icehouse Amphitheater is located just to the west of where the shop will be. There are signs in the barber shop’s windows announcing its impending arrival, and the Lexington location is listed as “coming soon” on the Circa website. An opening date has not yet been publicly announced.

“We’re a barbershop company owned and operated by local barbers who are fortunate to pursue our passion each day,” the company says on its website. “Our unwavering commitment is to provide a consistent haircut experience every time you sit in our chairs.”

Circa has locations in the Columbia area on Main Street, Sumter Street and in Forest Acres, per its website. It also has spots in Greenville, Travelers Rest, Charleston and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The core of downtown Lexington continues to be a bustling hub for shops, restaurants and more. Popular downtown eateries include O’Hara’s Public House, Keg Cowboy, Bodhi Thai Dining, Groucho’s Deli, Barrio, Craft Axe Throwing, Cribb’s, Bubba’s Biscuit, Libby’s, and Nicky’s Pizzeria. There are also a host of stores, such as Craig Reagin Clothiers and The Kindred Boutique, among others. And a trio of new businesses including Voodoo Brewing Company, TakoSushi and Molto Vino — are planned for the northwest corner of Main and Church streets.

The center of downtown Lexington is a high-traffic corridor. About 20,000 cars per day travel down Main Street, per state Department of Transportation data.
