Netflix viewer catches ‘mistake’ in new film as people say ‘how did I not spot it’

An eagle-eyed movie fan has spotted a ‘mistake’ while watching a new Christmas film with his wife.

While the couple were watching Carry-On, a new thriller that has now made its way to Netflix, the husband spotted one character – a baby – was played by two different young actors. In the first scene you can see a tot with brown hair, who is then swapped for a baby with no hair at all. However, the children are dressed in the same clothes and their appearances are separated by mere seconds.

The man’s wife, who posts to TikTok as FloridaFitBrit, shared the moment her partner caught this inconsistency. The video has since gone viral and has even been reposted on other social media platforms, including X (formerly known as Twitter).

In the caption of the video, she explained: “My husband caught this while watching and he had me cackling as I secretly recorded. We recommend watching Carry-On, very enjoyable especially, if like me, you know Die Hard IS a Christmas film. Imo (in my opinion) it’s got some serious 90s vibes! Sad to say this is our first Christmas film we’ve watched this festive season! Geez we’re slackin!

“We did spot this slight continuity error though and as parents of bald kiddos when they were babies we love to see em!” The scene shows a mum carrying her baby as she walks through an airport.

Carry-On tells the story of an airport security officer who races to outsmart a mysterious traveller, forcing him to let a dangerous item slip onto a Christmas Eve flight. FloridaFitBrit’s TikTok video has got an incredible 9.8 million views, 479,000 likes and more than 8,000 comments.

Commenting on the swapping of the babies in the movie scene, one TikTok user joked: “Like the movie said, carry on.” Another added: “How do people notice such things!” and a third said: “How did you even notice.”

Further commenters added: “I literally just finished this movie and I didn’t even notice that!” and “For someone who’s so observant, how did I miss this when I watched the movie?”

Social media users who saw the video reposted on X claimed that two different babies were used due to the rules around filming with minors. A person who said he has worked on films also mentioned the difficulties of filming babies.

He said: “As a film person I can confirm I worked on a Huggies commercial and there were no fewer than 30 (30!) Huggies babies and when any were fussy, they were swapped. They had ‘baby handlers’ just for this purpose.”

Another X user added: “During shooting, minors, especially babies, are only allowed so much time per rules. This case here is probably the production crew shot the first scene with one baby, then time with THAT baby ran out. So the crew had to go with a different but as close as possible looking baby that was available for the second scene.”
