New Jersey father facing chargers after 8-week-old infant was left in hot car

On July 15, 2024, at approximately 1:45 p.m., officers from the Lakewood Township Police Department responded to a call reporting that an 8-week-old infant was in cardiac arrest. Despite the efforts of the emergency medical team, the infant was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say that the child had been left in the car for about 4 hours in extremely high temperatures, which was determined to be the cause of the child’s death. Authorities now say the father of the child, 28-year-old Avraham Chaitovsky, was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Authorities also say that this is an active investigation and that there could be additional charges forthcoming. PHL17’s Tyrone Sharper gives a live report from the PHL17 studio.
