Newly Spotted Asteroid Burns Up Over Philippines

A newly spotted asteroid burned up harmlessly, as NASA predicted, in the Earth’s atmosphere over the Philippines on September 4.

The asteroid would “create a fireball off the east coast of the northern Philippines,” NASA said.

An observer with the Catalina Sky Survey in Arizona discovered the asteroid eight hours out from impact. It was dubbed CAQTDL2.
