A helicopter belonging to News 9 was reportedly damaged in a crash at an Oklahoma City-area airport, the TV station reports.
According to preliminary incident information from the Federal Aviation Administration, the Bob Mills Sky News 9 helicopter skidded and rolled over on its side while attempting to land at the Wiley Post Airport around 5:30 p.m. on April 30.
The helicopter had a pilot and passenger on board, both of whom were not seriously injured, according to News 9 reports.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
The helicopter involved was put into service in October 2024, after a tornado destroyed both News 9 and News On 6 helicopters. It was described as the most technologically advanced helicopter the station has ever had.
According to Houston Hunt, Vice President of Marketing with News 9, the helicopter in the crash is not operational and the outlet plans to use a second helicopter to maintain statewide coverage.
