At around 3:45 a.m. in the 0-100 block of W Polk Street, a 25-year-old man was approached on the sidewalk by two unknown individuals, Chicago police said. An off-duty female CPD officer then began to head towards the group, at which time the unknown offenders pulled out a gun and fired in the direction of the officer, according to police.
The CPD officer then shot back at the offenders, causing them to flee, police said.
No injuries were reported and no one is in custody.
