President Biden recently announced that he will commute the sentences of 37 individuals on federal death row.
One of those men has a connection to York.
According to a fact sheet provided by the White House, 49-year-old Kaboni Savage of Philadelphia, who has been awaiting federal execution since 2014 when he was convicted of murdering 12 people, including a family of six, during a 2004 firebombing, will have his sentence reclassified from execution to life without the possibility of parole.

Savage was the first man from Philadelphia in modern history to receive a federal death sentence.
His daughter, 9-year-old Ciara “CeCe” Savage, of Lancaster, was shot in the back during a drive-by shooting on May 10, 2009 by Nigel Ali Maitland, who was 19 at the time.
A few blocks away at the time of the killing, York’s annual Mother’s Day Street Fair was in full swing, with thousands of people milling around stands on Market Street.
Maitland was targeting rival gang members when Savage was shot amid gunfire.
A third-grader at The Ross Elementary School in Lancaster at the time, the young child was visiting relatives in the 500 block of South Duke Street and was playing with a group of children.
