A boater lost control of his vessel over the weekend and crashed into a sea wall at a Florida Keys marina, a video shared with the Miami Herald shows.
The crash happened late Saturday at the Marina Club at Blackwater Sound at mile marker 104 on the bayside of Key Largo shortly before midnight, said fishing guide Capt. Lain Goodwin, who with Capt. George Clark, Jr. are the stars of The Fish Guyz television show on the Discovery Channel.
It was The Fish Guyz’s Ring doorbell camera that captured the chaos showing the small center console suddenly increase speed, race toward the dock and fly into the air after it rammed into the dock.
“The crazy thing is, that sea wall is about three to four feet off the surface,” Goodwin said.
Daniel Roque Jr., the son of the boat owner and operator, told Local 10 that his father increased speed as winds picked up to avoid hitting other boats in the marina. But he slipped and fell onto the throttle, causing it to move even more forward, he told the television station.
No one was seriously injured in the crash. The senior Roque had one passenger on the boat who was ejected, but unharmed, Local 10 reported.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, which is investigating the crash, did not immediately respond to requests for information on details of the crash.
