A visibly overwhelmed Paddy McGuinness has a big promise to keep after revealing how much his cycle challenge has earned for Children in Need. The challenge saw the BBC Radio 2 presenter trek 300 miles across the UK on a Raleigh Chopper bike.
The Farnworth-born star travelled 300 miles from Wales to Scotland on his dream childhood bike, which he nicknamed Patch, was painted in the colours of the charity’s mascot, Pudsey. The 51-year-old admits he was ‘absolutely physically broken’ by the challenge but added he was the ‘happiest person around’ after completing the epic journey.
But it was on his BBC Radio 2 show this Sunday afternoon, Paddy got to reveal the total raised from the cycle challenge so far. The moment was shared on Radio 2’s official Instagram account showing Paddy in the studio about to reveal the total with dramatic music playing in the background.

As he took a look at the total, the presenter spluttered and said: “Oh my god… oh my days,” as he covered his head in his hands.
Composing himself, Paddy continued: “Folks, wherever you are, you have raised for Children in Need £10,319,707.”
As the £10 million milestone was smashed, tickertape fell from the ceiling as Paddy threw his arms in the air and the studio erupted in cheers. BBC Radio 2’s followers on Instagram posted to congratulate Paddy and his incredible fundraising achievement.
Bobbincottage posted: “You have raised it Paddy!!!! The nation got involved because of how humble, grateful and determined you were. Who chooses to ride that far on a Raleigh Chopper!!!!!”

But now Paddy has smashed the £10 million mark, it leaves him with promise he made earlier. After completing the cycle challenge, Paddy told fellow Radio 2 presenter Zoe Ball he would get a tattoo of his Chopper bike if the total raised passes £10 million.
Speaking to Zoe on her Radio 2 Breakfast Show he said: “If we together get to £10million on this challenge, I’m getting Patch tattooed.
“I just thought of it – I’m already regretting saying that,” he admitted, laughing: “I’m off to Google tattoo artists.”
After announcing the £10 million smashing total on BBC Radio 2 this afternoon. Followers were quick to remind Paddy about his tattoo pledge.
Shazza_1974 said: “Tattoo time Paddy x”.
Audsjw reminded Paddy to “Get the ink out,” before adding “Well done”.
While nicolalizzie asked: “So when are you getting the tattoo?”
