One person died following a hit-and-run crash in Independence Saturday evening.
Officers responded around 5:17 p.m. to the area of 24th Street and Claremont Avenue after a caller reported a person in the road, according to Sgt. Jeff Buck, a spokesperson for the Independence Police Department.
Police found the male subject, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The victimâs age wasnât specified.
Officers observed evidence at the scene that showed the victim was walking in the area when an unknown vehicle struck him, Buck said. The vehicle then fled the scene before someone called police.
The hit-and-run remains under investigation.
