A person was taken to the hospital after they were pulled while unconscious from a home fire in Burlington early Sunday morning.
Police and firefighters responded to a large blaze at an Evelyn Street home shortly after 4:00 a.m.
First responders found fire pouring from the roof of the home.
“The roof was all on fire,” neighbor John Fitzpatrick told Boston 25. “It’s not something you see every day. Takes your breath away.”

Fitzpatrick said the flames shot 10-15 feet above the ranch house — occupied, he said, by a single renter and his dog.
The Burlington Fire Department said that the occupant, a man, was pulled from the house unconscious.
“Once the firemen came, they got him out of the house and gave him CPR,” Fitzpatrick said.
As of midday, the man’s condition was unknown, but neighbors say they believe his dog died.
Fitzpatrick said his neighbor was known for his kindness.
“He’s got a snowblower. I’ve got a snowblower. His is bigger than mine,” he said. “He would go up and down the neighborhood with it.”
A Burlington police officer braved the flames, entered the home and pulled the resident out of the burning building. They were transported to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington.

An update on their condition was not immediately available.
The roof of the single-story home partially collapsed as fire crews fought the fire for around 40 minutes before getting it under control.
The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation by the Burlington Fire Department, Burlington Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office.
