An image from space of a stranded astronaut is causing worldwide concern. Astronaut Sunita Williams looked noticeably gaunt and hollow-cheeked on board the International Space Station. Her eight-day mission along with a fellow astronaut was extended by at least eight months due to a malfunction on the spaceship that was supposed to bring them home. Dr. Sandra Stankovic, space medicine professor at Harvard, says Williams appears to be suffering from a phenomenon known as “space face.”
