Aug. 2—WILKES-BARRE — A Pittston man arrested in February on allegations he downloaded and saved images of child sexual abuse materials was sentenced to up to two years in prison Friday.
Luzerne County Judge Joseph F. Sklarosky Jr. sentenced David Papiesz, 50, of Riverview Manor, to six-months to two-years at the county correctional facility followed by a consecutive term of seven years probation on 100 counts of child pornography. Papiesz pled guilty to the charges May 2.
Papiesz is required to register his address for 15 years under the state’s Sexual Offender Registration and Notification Act.
“I am wholeheartedly sorry for what I’ve done,” Papiesz said before he was sentenced.
Papiesz was formerly employed with the Pittston City Public Works Department.
Luzerne County detectives and the Wyoming Area Regional Police Department arrested Papiesz on Feb. 20 when a search warrant was served at his residence.
Detectives investigated a Cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding two images of child sexual abuse materials. A second Cyber tip involved eight images.
The two Cyber tips were linked to a cellular phone registered to Papiesz.
During an interview with detectives, Papiesz admitted he had child sexual abuse materials saved on a laptop at his residence, court records say.
