German wind energy developer PNE Group has obtained permits for two onshore wind farms in Hesse and a ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Brandenburg, Germany.
The development enhances PNE’s renewable energy portfolio, aligning with its strategy to expand its wind and photovoltaic power plants.
The Herzhausen wind farm in central Hesse will feature six wind turbines, each with a nominal output of 5.5MW, and a total generating capacity of 33MW.
The Welsche-Lied wind farm, to be located in northern Hesse, will consist of four turbines, three with a capacity of 7.2MW each and one with 6.2MW, resulting in a total power generation capacity of 27.8MW.
In Brandenburg, the Altlandsberg photovoltaic power plant will be equipped with 200,200 modules and a total rated output capacity of 124 megawatts peak.
The two wind farms and the photovoltaic plant are expected to deliver a total nominal output of 184.8MW.
The power generated by these will be sufficient to meet the annual electricity needs of 73,000 three-person households.
PNE chief executive officer Heiko Wuttke stated: “The licences received are an important step for our further growth. They allow us to further expand our own generation portfolio.”
PNE Group’s strategy focuses on growth, balancing project sales with the expansion of its wind and PV power plants.
PNE aims to expand its generation portfolio to 1.1GW in operation or under construction by 2027, with a project pipeline of between 10GW and 15GW.
In July 2023, PNE agreed to sell its five solar photovoltaic projects in Romania, with a combined capacity of 208MW, to TotalEnergies Renewables, a unit of TotalEnergies.
