The organised crime group responsible for a huge cannabis farm found on a busy business park remains at large after four years of police work. Despite forensic and financial investigations and an examination of traffic movements in the area the people behind the 2,000-plant operation remain unknown.
On Christmas Day 2020 police found an industrial-scale cannabis farm in a unit on Sandringham Park in Swansea Vale after responding to reports of a suspected burglary. At the time of the discovery police described it as a “sophisticated cannabis factory” and said they believe around 10 people were involved in its “daily upkeep”. The unit is yards from a major DVLA centre which employs around 1,000 people and is next to a busy car park, and officers urged anyone with information about suspicious activity in the area to come forward. But four years on, those responsible for running the farm remain at large.
South Wales Police said despite pursuing several lines of enquiry in relation to the cannabis farm, no suspects have yet been identified. Detective inspector Richard George said: “Enquiries have been made around forensics from the scene, enquiries around vehicles, and financial enquiries. Unfortunately, these enquiries have not led to any suspects being identified.” You can read about the biggest cannabis farms found in Wales in the last 12 months here
