POLICE NEWS: Elkhart woman injured in crash

Jan. 21—A woman was hospitalized following a crash Monday afternoon.

Elkhart County deputies reported that at 1:28 p.m., Cassie Walden, 34, of Elkhart, was traveling southeast on C.R. 5 approaching C.R. 2 in a 2024 Hyundai Palisade when she was struck by a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Jennifer Stabler, 49, of Bristol.

Walden was transported to Beacon Granger emergency room for treatment.

Stabler was cited for disregarding a stop sign.

HIT-AND-RUN

—Goshen police were called to Goodwill, 1905 Lincolnway East, at 12:49 p.m. Monday for a black SUV that backed into a parked car and left the scene.

—A 42-year-old man reported to Elkhart County deputies at 3:53 a.m. Jan. 19 a hit-and-run in the 69000 block of C.R. 21.

ARRESTS

—A 57-year-old man was arrested and jailed by Elkhart County deputies at 6:20 p.m. Jan. 16 following a crash near the intersection of Timberbrook Circle and Pinecroft Drive on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

—A 31-year-old man was arrested and jailed by Elkhart County deputies at 11:51 p.m. Jan. 16 on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangerment after a traffic stop near Bypass Road and Ind. 19 in Elkhart.

—A 48-year-old man was arrested and jailed by Elkhart County deputies at 5 p.m. Jan. 17 on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated following a crash in the 19000 block of C.R. 40.

—A 21-year-old man was arrested and jailed by Elkhart County deputies at 3:59 a.m. on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangerment after he crashed into a NIPSCO pole in the 59000 block of Ind. 15.

—A 23-year-old man was arrested and jailed by Elkhart County deputies at 2:53 a.m. Jan. 19 on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, resisting law enforcement, and battering law enforcement officers after he was found in the middle of the roadway on Elkhart Road north of Midway Road.

—Elkhart County deputies received a report at 8:21 p.m. Jan. 18 that firearms were discharges in a reckless manner in the 26000 block of Parkview Avenue in Elkhart.

—A 51-year-old woman reported to Elkhart County deputies at 5:36 a.m. that someone fired a gun toward her home in the 25000 block of Sunset Avenue. Police on scene found two bullet holes in the overhead garage door and shell casings. The incident is under investigation.
