Police pursuit results in two arrests after CT suspects’ truck crashes

Two suspects were arrested after a two-city pursuit Saturday that started at the Bloomfield Lowe’s and ended with a crash on Route 44 and Irving Street in Hartford, according to Bloomfield police.

Theodore Tobias, 53, and Portia Bick, 34, were arrested and their truck was seized after the pursuit that started at the Bloomfield Lowes at 325 Cottage Grove Road ended, police said.

Officers were called when Tobias and Bick’s white pickup truck was spotted and they appeared ready to enter the store, according to Bloomfield police.

Police said the truck and suspects were recognized from previous alleged larcenies in Newington and Bloomfield. Bloomfield officers approached the truck and the suspects fled, police said.

In Hartford, at Route 44 and Irving Street, the suspect’s truck hit a light post and sustained front end damage, police said. A Bloomfield police cruiser was also damaged after the suspect’s vehicle rolled back and collided with the cruiser, according to Bloomfield police.

Tobias is allegedly facing unspecified motor vehicle charges and Bick is facing a charge of possession of controlled substance, according to Bloomfield police. The case remains under investigation, police said.
