Power outages, downed trees reported in North Jersey amid wind advisory

It’s a windy Wednesday in North Jersey as the state remains under a wind advisory, accompanied by reports of power outages and downed trees.

On Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued wind advisories for the entire state of New Jersey as well as surrounding areas. One advisory, issued by the National Weather Service New York, affected Passaic, Bergen, Essex and Union counties. The advisory was issued at 9 a.m. and scheduled to remain in effect until 10 p.m. with the NWS predicting wind gusts between 45 and 50 mph.

“We will have an area-wide wind advisory starting 9 a.m. this morning until 10 p.m. tonight for widespread 45-50 mph wind gusts,” said the National Weather Service. “Peak gusts will likely occur in the afternoon. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Use extra caution.”
