Princess Anne joined King Charles, the head of the Armed Forces, to bestow the new Sovereign Standard upon the Blues and Royals (Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons).
The Princess Royal holds the esteemed position of Royal Colonel for The Blues and Royals.
A total of 35 service personnel and 27 military working horses shall assemble in the Buckingham Palace Quadrangle for the momentous occasion of unveiling the new Standard, a ceremonial event typically conducted once every ten years.
The Blues and Royals previously received their Standard from Queen Elizabeth II in May 2014.
Subsequently, the newly minted Standard was sanctified by the Chaplain General, before being presented by His Majesty to the Regiment.
The freshly minted Standard of The Blues and Royals shall make its inaugural appearance during the King’s Birthday Parade on the 17th of June, marking the commencement of his reign.
During the parade, the Regiment will furnish a mounted escort of honor for the King as he journeys from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade.
This year, the Welsh Guards’ Colour shall be displayed during the King’s Birthday Parade, featuring the participation of all seven regiments belonging to the Household Division.
