Russian President Vladimir Putin said he agreed in principle to the US-drafted proposal for a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine, but noted that the potential agreement in its current format needed revisions. Putin notably highlighted his objective to reclaim the Kursk region in southeastern Russia, which Ukrainian troops captured last summer, before agreeing to a truce. The Russian leader posited that Ukraine could use the pause as an opportunity to regroup.
