RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A Randolph County woman is facing several charges after an alleged assault that ended in the theft of a dog on Christmas Eve, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.
On Tuesday, deputies came to the area of Pilot Mountain Road in Asheboro after getting a report of an assault that had already taken place.
Investigators say that the suspect, 48-year-old Christine Faye Leonhardt left the scene with the victim’s dog after the assault.

Another person later called 911 to report that Leonhardt was now sitting on a neighbor’s porch and deputies found her there still holding the dog before taking her into custody.
She was then charged with felony larceny of a dog, misdemeanor simple assault and misdemeanor communicating threats. No bond was given due to her being out on pre-trial release for other charges.
Leonhardt will appear in court on Monday.
