Rick Stein tragedy as ‘much-loved’ chef who worked for BBC star found dead

A “much-loved” and highly regarded member of Rick Stein’s culinary team was found dead in staff housing last week. The young chef, who was in his 30s, passed away on Thursday, February 13.

Police were called to an address on Grenville Road in Padstow around 8pm after there were concerns raised about a man’s welfare at the property, which is used as staff accommodation for Stein’s business empire. A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police stated that the man, believed to have worked at The Cornish Arms in St Merryn, was declared dead at the scene.

Authorities do not treat his sudden death as suspicious, and relatives of the deceased have been informed. An official statement from the police said: “Police were called to Grenville Road, Padstow, at around 8pm on Thursday, February 13, following a concern for welfare for a man in a property. Sadly, a man in his 30s was declared deceased at the scene.”
