Jan. 30—ROCHESTER — A Rochester man accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old in 2023 was sentenced to five years in prison on Thursday morning.
Alex Allen Schneider, 29, was charged in July 2023 with two felony counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. He pleaded guilty to one count on Oct. 15, 2024.
As part of the sentencing conditions, Olmsted County District Judge Kathy Wallace ordered that Schneider also register as a sex offender.

Schneider’s attorney filed a motion on Wednesday, requesting the court grant Schneider a probationary sentence. The motion noted that Schneider has expressed “sincere remorse” for his actions and that he is unlikely to commit another crime. Wallace denied this motion during his sentencing hearing.
Schneider was accused of sexually assaulting a girl following a birthday party in Olmsted County on June 18, 2023, according to the criminal complaint. The Rochester Police Department began investigating the case the day after the girl went to a hospital to receive a medical examination. Law enforcement interviewed the families of both parties who told police that Schneider disclosed the sexual assault to them.
“It just happened … I just messed up,” he told one family member. Schneider said the assault would not have happened had he been sober.
