Rolling recipes: Search for Best Food Truck in Central Mass. down to Final Four

The road is getting narrower in the search for the Best Food Truck in Central Massachusetts.

After voting in the weeklong Round of 8, readers have chopped the list of rolling kitchens in half. That leaves four food trucks in the running.

More than 8,400 votes were cast in the Round of 8. And there were two very close finishes.

The results (with original ranking):

Breez Freez (1) defeated Ziggy Bombs (9), capturing 57% of the 1,584 votes.

Sauced & Tossed Chicken (12) defeated Savage Wraps (4), capturing 58% of the 2,485 votes.

Mortar & Pestle (7) defeated Thee Taco Dude (15), capturing 50.4% of the 1,745 votes.

Morawski Barbecue (3) defeated Big T’s Jerky House (6), capturing 50.25% of the 2,653 votes.

Voting for the Final Four is underway. Scroll down.

The poll is shaped much like the March Madness college basketball brackets. After soliciting reader nominations, we came up an original list of 16, then halved to eight, and now down to four. The final two will go head to head for the label of Best Food Truck in Central Mass.

The poll is shaped after our earlier reader polls on Best Taco SpotBest Chinese RestaurantBest BreakfastBest Ice Cream and Best Pizza.

It’s an informal poll, unscientific, intended as fun, a departure from the sometimes edgy tone of the internet.

Final Four round:

Breez Freez (1) vs. Sauced & Tossed (12)

Breez Freez, Spencer

Sauced & Tossed Chicken, Charlton

Mortar & Pestle (7) vs. Morawski Barbecue (3)

Mortar & Pestle, West Boylston

Morawski Barbecue, Rutland

The next round of voting, with the surviving two food trucks, begins at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1.
