A salmonella outbreak has been linked to cucumbers across 25 US states and Washington DC, with over 160 reported illnesses and more than 50 hospitalizations. The CDC and FDA are investigating the outbreak and found salmonella contamination in cucumber samples from Fresh Start Produce. Illnesses linked to the outbreak began on March 11th and continued through mid-May across many eastern and midwestern US states. Testing is still underway to confirm the link between the contaminated cucumbers and the outbreak.
