There are many heroes in this world, and some of them are involved with a group called Ocean Conservation Namibia. The workers there tirelessly save animals along the Namibian coastline that have been wrapped in trash or otherwise injured, and recently they found a seal pup with a plastic bag wrapped tightly around its neck.
“Household waste can be just as harmful as discarded fishing gear when it enters the ocean,” OCNamibia wrote. “Our team discovered a young seal fighting to breathe as a plastic bag tightened around its neck. Although the pup resisted, we were able to remove the entanglement and release it safely. It was a narrow escape!”
In the last decade or so, the workers have saved nearly 4,000 animals from a variety of things, like fishing nets, fishing lines and random bits of plastic that we carelessly throw away.
