Shocking aftermath of horror 4am Boxing Day car crash

This is the shocking aftermath of a horror crash on the Isle of Man which left a car completely wrecked – and a passenger trapped inside.

Fire and rescue service bosses said it was an ‘avoidable incident’ as they shared the image on social media. Emergency services were called to the scene of the single vehicle crash in the Isle of Man at around 4am this morning (December 26). A photograph shared by the fire and rescue service shows the totalled motor with its front end completely caved in.

Its roof was also missing after fire crews had to cut it off to free the passenger trapped inside. Miraculously, nobody died in the crash, but no update has been issued on the injuries sustained.

Station Officer David Cowley, from the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue service, said: “This was an avoidable incident which has unfortunately spoiled the Christmas period for all involved.”

Fire crews were called to Jurby Road, a major A-road which connects Ramsey and Sandygate on the island. Immediate casualty care was given at the roadside to one individual who was found to be out of the vehicle, the service said.

A second passenger was trapped inside the vehicle by their injuries and pinned inside by the wreckage of the vehicle. Crews used electric hydraulic cutting and spreading equipment to free the casualty before they could be handed over to the Ambulance Service.
