Shooting in Simi Valley turns fatal

Simi Valley authorities are investigating a shooting that turned fatal Tuesday night.

The incident was reported shortly before 9 p.m. near California Oak Street and Crinklaw Lane, said Sgt. Richard Morton of the Simi Valley Police Department. The area is in an enclave in the city’s southeast area.

A man said to be receiving life-saving measures at the scene was later pronounced dead, Morton said. He was believed to be about 67 years old and a resident of the Knolls area.

The suspected shooter, a man, was at the scene and was cooperating with investigators, Morton said.

Homicide detectives were en route as of about 10 p.m.

No other details were immediately available as the investigation was in its early stages, the sergeant said.
