Light aircraft crash lands in industrial estate

Police have sealed off roads after a light aircraft crashed into an industrial estate. The aircraft, believed to be an Evektor SportStar built in 2022, is said to have crashed shortly after 9am in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, today (1). Emergency services sealed off the land around the Veolia Municipal depot. According to Flightradar the last signal received from the aircraft was at 8.03am this morning at an altitude of 600ft. A spokesperson for Derbyshire Police said: “We are currently dealing with a light aircraft that came down on land off Sheepbridge Lane, Chesterfield earlier this morning. “The incident happened just after 9am today. “Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service are also at the scene. “Roads in the immediate area are closed and will remain shut for some time while the investigation into the circumstances continues.” A spokesperson for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue said: “Emergency Services are currently dealing with a light aircraft that has come down on Sheepbridge Lane, Chesterfield. “Fire control operators received a call at 09.05 hours today (Sunday 1 September) and mobilised fire crews from Chesterfield, Clay Cross and Staveley Fire Stations to the scene. “Colleagues from Derbyshire police and East Midlands Ambulance Service are also in attendance. “People are asked to avoid the area while emergency services deal with the incident.”
