Voting is underway for Ohio Department of Transportation’s annual Paint-the-Plow competition. Northern Ohio schools, including two in the Alliance area, custom-painted the snowplows. Voting on the favorite of the entries opened Monday on Facebook and will conclude at 3 p.m. Dec. 9. Competitors decorated snow plows with igloos, mascots and other holiday references. Many also included road-friendly slogans, like “Don’t be a crashout,” or “Don’t rush in ice or slush.” Twenty-nine schools – including Alliance High School and Minerva Elementary School – submitted designs from ODOT’s District 4, which includes Ashtabula, Mahoning, Portage, Stark, Summit and Trumbull counties. Votes will be counted on Facebook. Every “like” on a post counts as one vote. Voting will close Dec. 9 at 3 p.m.
