The Chicago Police Department responded to the 7600 block of West Talcott Avenue around 11 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, they found 63-year-old George Levin unresponsive in a basement bedroom, bound with duct tape and an extension cord.
After an autopsy was done on Levin’s body, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office found he died of multiple injuries and ruled his death a homicide.
“I’m actually very shocked. Ever since the violence in Chicago has been creeping up, we’ve been more alert, aware,” said Minerva Kacprzak, a neighbor of Levin’s “We have security cameras everywhere our neighbors tend to be cautious as well because you never know.”
