State police investigating fatal crash on I-95 involving wrong-way driver

State police are investigating a fatal crash involving a wrong-way driver on Interstate 95 in Westbrook on Wednesday night.

Troopers responded to reports of the crash around 8 p.m. on I-95 South in the area of Exit 65, according to Connecticut State Police.

The state police C.A.R.S. Unit assisted in the investigation into the crash. Preliminary information indicated the collision involved a wrong-way driver, state police said.

Traffic was diverted off the highway using Exit 66 while crews were at the scene. The highway later reopened.
