State police report holiday period traffic arrests

Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) investigated 495 crashes in the state during the Christmas travel period, according to statistics released Friday.

During the three-day period from Tuesday through Thursday, police reported 81 injuries and one crash that resulted in death. Impaired driving was a factor in 27 of those crashes.

Additionally, troopers arrested 138 individuals for driving under the influence (DUI) and issued the following citations:

• 720 for speeding

• 72 for failing to wear a seat belt

• 19 for not securing children in safety seats

In Troop E, which includes Crawford County, there were 20 crashes reported. None of those crashes resulted in a fatality or injury. There were four citations for DUI issued in Troop E.
