The BBC confirmed this week that the launch show on September 14 will open with the Strictly Come Dancing professionals boarding a party bus bound for the ballroom.
Strictly creative director Jason Gilkison choreographed an energetic opening dance number set to floor-filling bangers like ‘We Like to Party!’ by Vengaboys, ‘Pump Up the Jam’ by Technotronic, and two iconic Steps songs (‘5,6,7,8’ and ‘Stomp’).
Gilkison has also created a special routine that tugs at the heartstrings, as Strictly Come Dancing honours professional dancer Amy Dowden.

Amy, who is returning to the show after battling cancer, will take centre stage with her fellow Strictly pros in a dance showcasing the resilience shown every day by people with the disease.
“I am so excited for every element of being back with my Strictly family,” Amy has said of this year’s launch. “I am so grateful to get this opportunity, especially as itâs such a special year for this legendary show. It feels like itâs my first year again.
“Iâm buzzing to see the whole team, for costumes, for dance routines, to meet the celebrities, the judges. Everyoneâs laughing at me because I am just smiling constantly. Iâd like to dedicate this dance to my pink sisters who have supported me through the past year and to all those currently facing cancer.”
The celebrity cast for Strictly 2024 includes EastEnders icon Jamie Borthwick, Love Island‘s Tasha Ghouri, former TOWIE star Pete Wicks and ex-Coronation Street star Shayne Ward.
Strictly Come Dancing will return Saturday, September 14 on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
